How to Add More Protein to Overnight Oats

Dozy Oats already contain a good amount of protein with approximately 6-11g per pack from the dry ingredients (not including milk). However, you can add more protein to overnight oats without turning breakfast into a protein shake. Milk, Greek yogurt, nut or seed butter and protein powders are all options. The best choice depends on your dietary needs and the taste and texture you enjoy.

Start with your milk

Milk is the easiest lever because you're adding liquid anyway. Roughly 2/3 cup of typical dairy milk contributes about five grams of protein. Soy milk often provides more protein than many other plant milks, while almond, oat and coconut beverages vary considerably by brand.

Add Greek yogurt

A spoonful of Greek yogurt can increase protein and make the oats thicker and tangier. If you're using a pre-portioned product, you may need to adjust the liquid slightly.

Try nut or seed butter

Peanut, almond and seed butters add protein along with fat and flavor. They're especially natural partners for banana or chocolate flavors.

Protein powder: optional, not mandatory

Some people want a high-protein breakfast; others don't. Dozy's base flavors are designed around taste and real-food ingredients rather than making protein powder the dominant ingredient. For people who want more, Dozy offers a pea-protein add-on with 8 grams of protein per tablespoon.

How much protein do you need?

Protein needs vary with body size, age, activity, health status and the rest of your diet. Rather than chasing one internet number, use your overall eating pattern—and professional guidance when appropriate—to decide what fits.
